What are my options if my garage has low headroom?
You have four: a low-headroom double-track kit that works with as little as 4.5 inches of clearance, a rear-mount torsion conversion for even tighter spaces, a wall-mounted jackshaft opener that eliminates the ceiling rail, or raising the tracks with a high-lift setup if your problem is obstructions rather than the ceiling itself. First, know your number
Headroom is the distance from the top of the door opening to the lowest obstruction above it, whether that is the ceiling, a duct, or a beam. And if your headroom problem comes from a storage platform or duct that could be relocated affordably, standard hardware is always the more durable long-term answer.
