Opening the Case Without Breaking the Clips

• Visor remotes: look for a slot on the edge or the visor-clip end. Insert a coin or flathead screwdriver and twist gently. The halves are clipped, not screwed, on most models.
• Mini keychain remotes: usually one tiny Phillips screw on the back, then the case splits.
• Keypads: slide the front cover fully up; the battery compartment is behind it or under the bottom edge. Some Genie keypads hide a screw under the flip-up lid.
• Note the polarity first. Photograph the old battery in place. A CR2032 installed upside down will not damage anything, but the remote will be dead silent and you will think you broke it.

While the case is open, glance at the rubber button pad and circuit board.
