The common midnight failures, and what sets each price
The same handful of problems generates nearly every 11 p.m. call we take through emergency service, and because we add no surcharge, each one is priced the same way it would be at noon:
- Snapped torsion spring, door will not lift: priced by spring size and cycle rating, same as any daytime call. The gunshot bang from the garage at 5 a.m. during a January cold snap is a metro classic; cold steel is brittle steel.
- Door off track and hanging crooked: a straightforward reset if nothing bent, more involved with damaged track or cables.
- Broken cables: replaced as a pair, installed.
- Opener dead with car trapped inside: often a no-charge fix. The red release cord disconnects the trolley so you can lift the door by hand; we walk callers through it on the phone constantly. If the opener itself needs work, repairs are priced by the part involved.
- Door stuck open, house exposed: priced by the underlying cause, but we treat these as jump-the-line calls because an open garage overnight is a security event, not an inconvenience.
What "emergency" actually buys you
Speed, mostly. Our average response runs 20 to 50 minutes across the metro, whether the call comes from Nichols Hills at lunch or Midwest City at 2 a.m. The truck arrives stocked with the springs, cables, rollers and opener parts that cover the large majority of failures, so most emergency calls end with a working door on the first visit, not a "we'll order the part" note. You approve a written price before any work starts, exactly as you would in daylight; urgency never becomes an excuse to skip the quote. Deciding whether tonight can wait
Honest triage saves money in both directions. Call now if the door is stuck open, hanging off its track, or has anyone or anything trapped; those situations get worse or riskier by morning. Waiting until daylight is fine when the door is closed and locked with a dead opener, or when a spring broke but you have another way out and no one needs the car early.
