The three trip-fee models you will run into
Call five garage door companies from Norman to Guthrie and you will hear three different pricing structures. Knowing which one you are dealing with saves real money:

None of these models is dishonest on its own. The problem is when the fee is not mentioned until the tech is standing in your driveway and your leverage is gone.
Questions to ask before anyone rolls a truck
- Is there a charge if I do not approve the repair?
- Is the diagnostic separate from the trip fee? Some companies stack both.
- Does the fee change after 5 p.m. or on weekends? Combine this with our answer on after-hours charges, because a modest daytime trip fee can grow sharply on a Sunday.
- Will I get a written price before work starts?
A company with clean answers to all four is a company you can trust with the bigger-ticket repairs too.
Why we keep estimates free
We have been family-owned since 1994, and free estimates have been policy the whole time for a practical reason: most garage door problems cannot be honestly priced over the phone. A "door making noise" call might be a quick lubrication fix during a tune-up or a failing opener gear that points to opener repair. Charging a fee just to find out which one puts pressure on both sides to inflate the repair so the visit "was not wasted." Removing the fee removes the pressure.
